Why Lights at Plane Wing Ends Are Different and other interesting facts about airplane

Why Lights at Plane Wing Ends Are Different and other interesting facts about airplane

Do you notice every little detail about your surroundings right away? If yes, then you didn't miss the fact that all planes have a green light on the end of one wing and a red one on the other. Why do they have different colors? Well, let's find out!

These high-intensity red and green lights, together with a white light located on the tail, are the plane's navigation lights.

The red light is always on the left wingtip, and the green one is always on the right.

These navigation lights are on at all times. Their main purpose is to signal a plane's precise position to all other aircraft in the sky.

Let's say a helicopter pilot sees red and white lights in front of them at night. This lets them know there's a plane passing from right to left. Green and white means the plane is flying from left to right.
Seeing both red and green is a warning sign that a plane is moving toward the helicopter. And spotting only white light means a plane is going the same way as the helicopter or pointing away.

All these light combinations help pilots to avoid any chance of collision with another aircraft Apart from navigation lights, planes have red rotating beacon lights installed on the upper and lower fuselage. When the red blinking light is on, its a warning for the ground crew and other planes that the engines are about to start, and it's dangerous to come near.

But pilots keep them on even after take-off because they increase planes' visibility in the sky. And just like a car, a plane has headlights that help the pilot see the runway during landing and take off. Taxi lights are located on the nose, and they illuminate the runway. Landing lights are under the wings near the fuselage. They're used for the same purpose, but give the pilot a bit wider angle of view for making turns. During take-off, landing lights are switched off when a plane reaches 10,000 ft altitude. When descending, pilots turn them on again at the same altitude.

But what lights do you see when you notice a plane high in the sky?

These are the white strobe lights fitted at the wingtips. They're super bright, and pulsate to make a plane visible from miles away. Ok, now all those blinking lights make perfect sense. But a plane has a lot of other not-so-obvious things that have some hidden purpose and spark questions, even for the most experienced travelers.

For example...

Why are there white spiral marks on airplane engines?

These spirals come in different sizes and shapes, depending on the plane, and protect the ground crew. You might think that deafening noises are enough to warn them that the pilots have started engines and it's not safe to approach the area. But they wear hearing protection. Also, if there are several planes on the ground it gets really hard to tell which one is about to take off by simply relying on your ears.

Seeing the hypnotizing swirl on jet engines prompts the ground staff to stay away.

Why are there holes in airplane windows?

Take a closer look at any window on a plane – it consists of 3 panes, and the middle one has this tiny hole.
When a plane is up in the sky, there's a huge difference between the pressure inside and outside the cabin. The outer pane bears the most pressure, and the hole in the middle one helps regulate the pressure difference to make sure passengers don't experience a lack of oxygen.

And since there's also a big difference in temperature inside and outside, the hole keeps the windows from fogging up.

Why are there hooks on the wings?

Some of the emergency exits on a plane are over the wings. This means that passengers will have to step on the wings to get to an escape slide.

But if its an emergency landing on water, the wing surface will be slippery, and thisis when those yellow hooks come in handy.

Crew members secure one end of a rope in the door frame, and the other one gets attached to the wing through the hook. Another rope is secured in the second hole. Passengers can hold on to these ropes while making their way to the inflatable slide.

Is it possible to get extra space on a plane?

Yes, but only if you’re lucky enough to take an aisle seat. There’s a magic button near the hinge under the armrest closest to the aisle that will make your trip is instantly much more comfortable. After pressing it, you can freely move that armrest up, making it parallel to the back of your seat. However, the main purpose of this button is to allow you quick and easy escape in case of an emergency.
Did you know about this secret feature? Let me know in the comments!

Why are the lights dimmed during take-off and landing?

When a plane takes off or lands at night or dusk, the cabin crew wants your eyes to get adjusted to the darkness. Usually, it takes up to 30 minutes to fully adjust to a dark setting. So, dimming the lights in the cabin works to shorten that period.

In case of any emergency or sudden evacuation, your vision will already be adjusted, and the illuminated pathways will be more visible.

However, dimming the lights happen in the daytime as well to conserve some engine power

Why do planes leave white trails in the sky?

These white trails look a lot like smoke, but in reality, they're mostly water and carbon dioxide, which are released into the atmosphere when the engine burns fuel. The cold air at high altitudes condenses and possibly freezes, the hot exhaust, creating those white “tails”.

Basically, it works the same as when you can see your breath on a chilly day.

Can a plane door open mid-flight?

If, for some reason, this question worries you when your plane is about to take off, then let me put your fears to rest – it’s impossible. The force of the cabin pressure won’t allow it. If someone tried, they'd have to overcome more than 24,000 lbs of pressure. To give you an idea, that’s the weight of 20 polar bears or 6 cars. (You wanna weigh a polar bear!Be my guest!)

In addition to the pressure force, there are lock bolts located deep inside the structure of the airplane that holds the door together.

Is it safe to fly in lightning?

Generally, yes, because standard commercial airplanes are designed to withstand lightning strikes. Their lightning protection systems serve to prevent electrical build-up.

However, statistics say that lightning still hits every commercial plane once a year. But in most cases, this leaves a plane with only minor damage, like a scorch mark on its surface.

Why are seats and windows not lined up on some planes?
Actually, all commercial airplanes are designed with seats and windows perfectly aligned. But when a specific airline buys a plane, it’s up to them to decide how many seats it'll have. Quite often, airlines choose to add extra seats because more seats mean more people, and more people mean snacks – no, more money.

And that’s how you end up in a cramped space without the possibility to fully enjoy the views.

What’s the safest seat on an airplane?

Most airlines insist that there is no safest seat. But the statistics of airplane crashes supports the idea that it’s at the back. Passengers near the tail of a plane were about 40% more likely to survive a crash than those in the front. If you want an even more specific answer, then it’s the middle seats in the rear section.

Why do flight attendants touch the overhead compartment so often?

You might think they just check if it’s tightly closed. But nope. They use a hidden handrail for the balance! It’s located at the bottom of the overhead compartment. Next time you’re making your way to the bathroom, tuck your fingers into it for a steadier walk down the aisle instead of grabbing the seats of other passengers. Thank you.

Where do flight attendants nap on a plane?

Many airliners have a secret, windowless bedrooms for the cabin crew that includes from 6 to10 bunks. Their location may vary depending on the plane, but they’re usually right above first class, behind the cockpit. To get there, the crew uses stairs hidden behind a door near the cocktip. But on some planes, a special hatch that looks like a typical overhead bin allows the cabin crew to enter the rest area. Depending on the airliner, some pilots have their own private overhead area to rest.

Finally,
how to they twist those big rubber bands so much in order to spin the propellers?
Well, that’s a highly guarded secret that even we can’t reveal. That’s a joke.

Uninstall multiple apps

Uninstalling apps one by one is an annoying task I know custom skins like me who I support batch uninstallation but if you don't have me you why there's a feature in Android to uninstall apps very quickly it's in the Play Store so all you need to do is open the Play Store here go to my apps and games here just go to the install tab now see the storage option hit it up and you'll get the free up space page with apps Play Store it commands you to uninstall yeah these are the apps you haven't used often as you can see I have quite a few apps I haven't used in a while now I can just quickly select multiple apps here hit this button and its gone.

Silent notifications

What exactly are silent notifications well these notifications just directly slide into the notification shade or Notification Center and they don't make a sound they don't make a vibration or even show up on top as a banner so these notifications are just there in the notification shade so that you can see them whenever you want I mean not all notifications deserve our attention right well the ability to sign notifications from apps has been present but Android 10 makes things a whole lot easier in Android 10 you can just press hold on a notification and set the type of notification to other less important notifications and that's it job done fewer annoyances

Clear storage using chrome

Almost all of us use Chrome on our Android smartphones but did you know that you can use Chrome to free up some space on a smartphone yeah I'm serious so in chrome settings just go to site settings here you go to storage now check this out ok so these are the websites that have taken up the more storage in my phone if you're wondering how swiggy comm is taking up almost 400 Mb/s on my phone I'm no clue really maybe I would have opened it once or twice yeah I know I eat a lot but I usually use the app but this whole list is pretty surprising anyway these are cache files and some of the guys in our office have web sites taking of GBS of space too. so, check your phone for the same and yeah you can just hit clear site storage and done some sort is clear awesome right.

Dark mode in all apps

Android 10 dark mode is awesome I love how it turns all compatible apps dark. however some app still don't have a dark theme like say WhatsApp or Instagram well that's where this feature comes in so in developer options there's this option called over right force dark that forces the dark mode on every single app you the system app or a third-party app just turn it on and everything will go dark as you can see even the non-supported apps like WhatsApp support this is super cool right

Capitalize words quickly

A lot of us use G board and if you are a G board user well I have a couple of amazing hidden features that you are going to love. so, when you're typing and you want to capitalize on the first letters of a word or even capitalize the whole word or a sentence there's no easy way to do it right? wrong. it is simple to capitalize the first letter of words just select them and hit the shift button simple C want to capitalize the whole word well just double-tap it see it's awesome right and you know what it works even if you want to turn everything into lowercase super-duper handy.

Set Timers on websites

App time was agreed but if you've always thought about setting a timer on Chrome. You'd know that it does not work I mean yes chrome can be distracting. so, you want to set a time on that but chrome is also something you need to research about stuff learn the important things so yeah that does not work out anyway with the new digital well-being updated there's a solution for all of this now you can just go to digital well-being and under Chrome. You can see the websites you have been visiting a lot so you can set a time on specific websites that are distracting as you can see I read about cricket a lot trying to put a time on that anyway with this you have crew without the distraction

Quiet notification prompts

Question: what is the most annoying thing about web sites? Answer: Notifications and I don't want to see this prompt well good news chrome is getting a new flag called quite a notification problems that will apparently make these prompts whiter now I'm not sure what quiet means here anyway this flag is only available in the chrome can rebuild but I went to the chrome Flags page and turn it on when I visited the websites that have this notification prompt and when there was no problem, yeah this is a lifesaver and I hope it arrives so stable chrome very soon

Battery saver based on routine

I'm sure you know that even said the battery is able to turn on at a certain battery percentage but you know what Android 10 brings a new cool option here in Android 10 you can set the battery saver to turn on based on your routine

yes, it's another AI mumbo-jumbo but it's pretty cool see with this Android 10 will turn out the battery saver based on when you charge your phone and if your phone can last in that time not sure how well it works but hey it's cool now this option isn't available on the one plus 7 from using but maybe it'll arrive soon

Street View Layer

Google Streetview is cool but previously you have to use the Google Streetview dedicated app and all of that to use it well things have changed now all you need is the good old amazing Google Maps app. so, Google Maps on Android recently got a dedicated Street View layer. This makes things very simple all you need to do is enable it but you know just stabbing it and now you can see the streets that have Street View support marked with the familiar blue lines.

Theming Options

Google has been working on a new theme app for the pixel for and well as you can see it looks amazing and very feature-rich but yeah for all those of you don't know Android 10 also bring some basic theming options. so, in the developer options around right if you scroll down to the very end these are the options as you can see there's accent color and you can choose from quite a few colors you can also change the icon shape here and the phone yeah it's honestly basic but hopefully the new team's app is on its way very soon

well those are some really cool hidden features in Android that I personally really like but what about you which is your favorite hidden feature that we showed you and it's in the comment section below.

The Ultimate WordPress Marketing Setup 7 Advanced Plugins to Catapult Traffic and Sales

The Ultimate WordPress Marketing Setup 7 Advanced Plugins to Catapult Traffic and Sales

There are a lot of plugins out there, and as a marketer, you know that there so many to choose from. Some do the same things, some may not work with other plugins. Which ones should you use to make sure that you're getting more traffic and more sales?

Today I'm going to go over the ultimate WordPress Marketing Setup: Seven Advanced Plugins to Catapult Your Traffic and Sales.

1. Calculated Fields Form

The first plugin, Calculated Fields Form.

It's one of the easiest ways to create a tool on your website. Tools attract backlinks, visitors, search rankings.

Why? Because of its a tool. People love free tools. Whether its calculators for finance, mortgage calculators, nutrition calculators, health calculators, A/B testing calculators. Car rental calculators, quote generators, all this kind of stuff helps really well.

2. Title Experiments Free

The next plugin I have for you is Title Experiments.

It allows you to test click the rates of different title variations of your post. Remember, eight out of ten people will read your headline, but only two out of ten will click through and read the rest. Its all about your headline. So when you're creating a blog post I want you to come up with at least five variations and start testing them. And you can do so through this plug-in. Because the more clicks you get, the higher your rankings will be.

For example, if everyone did a Google search and clicked on the number two listing instead of the number one listing, what would that tell Google?

Oh, the number two listing is more relevant. It doesn't matter if the number one has more backlinks or is better optimized for SEO.Google will put the number two listing and make it number one.

And that's what you can do by using this plugin to optimize your title tag.

3. Gravity

The third plugin, Gravity Forms.

You want a qualified lease for business, Multiple-step form reduces friction and increases conversion rates. Usually by 10 plus percent.

Gravity Forms allows you to build multi-step forms, polls, quizzes, and surveys. It's super effective.

4. WP Mail SMTP by WPForms

The next plugin, WP Mail SMTP.

Its configured with SendGrids SMTP. It makes sure that your emails hit customers' inboxes. If you're selling anything through your WordPress site, you usually are sending out emails. And you'll find that they'll go into the promotions tab or spam tabs. If you're not using SMTP service, that's what's going to happen. You don't want your emails to go into the spam box.

SendGrid offers 100 free emails a day, and if you use this plugin its a great way to make sure that your emails hit the inbox.

5. Yoast SEO

The next plugin, the Yoast SEO plugin.

I could go into this one but its pretty self-explanatory. It does everything that you need, from keynote mark-up to title tags, meta tags, to create a site map for you that you submit to Google search console. It does most of the stuff you need.

6. Broken Link Checker

Next plugin, Broken Link Checker.

This monitors links on your entire website. It detects broken links and missing images. It prevents search engines from following broken links. You can then use this plugin to quickly edit and fix the broken links. It creates a better user experience, and it should help with your rankings in the long run.

7. RafflePress

Another plugin that I love is a RafflePress plugin.

It allows you to host giveaways on your website. This helps with virality, right. Because you can do things, like when you do a giveaway, you can get more votes through social voting. So you can integrate social media sites, and the more people share the more votes they get.

It also has email integration, so you can send out email blasts and encourage more people to enter the contest and giveaways. It also has tracking and retargeting and all this stuff built into this one plugin.

If you need help growing your traffic for your WordPress based site or any questions leave a comment below.

Enjoy your day.

Kamini Roy on doodle: गूगल के डूडल में आज कामिनी रॉय, जानें- क्या है उनका परिचय - google doodle on Kamini Roy know about her

Kamini Roy, Bengali Reformer & India's 1st Woman Honours Graduate, Honoured by Google Doodle Today

Today's Google Doodle celebrates the 155th birth anniversary of the first woman to graduate with honors in the history of India, who went on to advocate for the rights of all women -- Kamini Roy. She was a Bengali poet, educator, and activist.
Born on October 12 in 1864 in the Bakerganj district of British India-now part of Bangladesh- Ms Roy grew up in a prominent family. Her brother was elected Mayor of Calcutta, and her sister was a physician for Nepal's Royal Family. Though interested in mathematics, Kamini Roy began writing poetry at an early age.
In 1886, she graduated with a degree in Sanskrit from Bethune College, earning her BA with honors. In college, she met another student, Abala Bose, who went on to be known for her social work in women's education and alleviating the condition of widows. Her friendship with Abala Bose would inspire her interest in advocating for women's rights.
According to Google, after graduation, Kamini Roy became a teacher at Bethune and published Alo O Chhaya, the first of her many books of poems, in 1889. By forming organizations to champion causes she believed in, she helped advance feminism on the Indian subcontinent.
"Why should a woman be confined to home and denied her rightful place in society?" the poet once wrote.
She also worked to help Bengali women win the right to vote in 1926. For her literary accomplishments, Kamini Roy was awarded the Jagattarini medal by Calcutta University in 1929.
Kamini Roy died in 1933.
